Supercar Pile Up in Japan

Western Japan witnessed a pile up of supercars to make even the most ardent of non-petrol heads wince on Sunday, with damage bills thought to be totalling a staggering £2.5m! TV footage shown below highlights a 400 metre stretch upon which thousands of pounds worth of supercar debris is scattered, with disbelieving onlookers stood in arms.

Highway Patrol Policemen Eiichiro Kamitani said: “I’ve never seen such a thing, Ferraris rarely travel in such large numbers.”

It is believed a fleet of around 20 supercars were travelling on the 50mph road at some pretty hairy speeds (around 80-100mph it is estimated), when the lead Ferrari veered off and hit the barrier in wet conditions. Those behind may have slammed on the brakes, but it was apparently too late and the most eye-watering and painful-to-see supercar orgy lasted just seconds in the making.

The unfortunate lead driver is thought to be a 60year old businessman from Chikushino, near Fukuoka, on the southern island of Kyushu. As well as the small matter of 10 people being rushed to hospital, 14 dream cars were involved in the pile up; including Ferraris, Lamborghini, Mercedes… and a Toyota Prius.

Among the supercar wreckage were: a Ferrari Testarossa, 2x Ferrari 430s (one of which being the Scuderia), 2x Ferrari 360s, 2x Ferrari 355s and a Lamborghini Diablo.

…one thing is for sure, we’d love to see the insurance bill for that one!
